Investment in Growth Programme

The planned growth programme for i3 supports emerging technologies and digital automation.

i3 was allocated Ayrshire Growth Deal targeted investment of £21 million from the Scottish Government, UK Government and North Ayrshire Council, creating Flexible Advanced Manufacturing Space providing modern, energy efficient space for businesses, and supporting the establishment of the Digital Process Manufacturing Centre (DPMC); a regionally significant and nationally recognised centre of excellence in digital automation designed to support process manufacturing industries with next-generation technologies.  This investment has been bolstered by additional funds of £4.7 million from the UK Government’s Levelling Up 3 fund.

The DPMC is operational as a pilot, located with the manufacturing space of engineering firm Booth Welsh and has been established through a partnership between National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS), CPI and North Ayrshire Council and with support from Scottish Enterprise. The Centre will also benefit from a private 5G network supported through the UK Government’s 5G Innovation Region funding.
